License or Registration Renewal
Did you know that you can complete your License or Registration Renewal online?
Reservation holders will be permitted to conduct no more than three (3) transactions. In the event a person has more than three (3) Commercial and Business Services transactions, paperwork must be dropped off for completion.
Med Certifications
Reservations are not permitted for Medical Certification. Please be advised that an updated medical certificate may be submitted online at https://nws.rhodeisland.egov.com/forms/dmv/cdl
Dealer Registration Transactions

Failure to Appear or Pay Suspensions
Customers only seeking to address failure to appear or pay suspensions do not require a reservation at this time. Failure to appear or pay suspensions can be addressed at the Adjudication Office on a walk-in basis. Customers with multiple suspensions should make a reservation using the "Multiple suspension" category.
All customers with "failure to appear or pay suspensions" must present all required clearance letters at check-in.
Hardship License
Please note that all customers seeking a hardship license must appear at the DMV with the following documentation:
- Ignition Interlock Device Installation Certificate
- Court order with requirements for hardship license
- Payment of $100.00 Ignition Interlock fee
- Payment of $6.50 to update license
If you were involved in an accident and recieved a notice of suspension for lack of insurance, you may be able to contest the suspension by providing DMV a letter from your insurance company containing the vehicle VIN indicating that at the time of the accident the vehicle was covered by insurance.

Applicants for Chauffeur endorsements, passenger endorsements or School Bus Certificates are required to present a Social Security Card and BCI check from the Rhode Island Department of Attorney General.
Customers only seeking to obtain driving records do not require a reservation at this time. Certified driving records can be obtained in person at the Adjudication Office on a walk-in basis.

Do I need a REAL ID?
